20 Fun Gross Motor Activities To Do With Kids While Quarantined

It is official...Peters is going online which means more time to keep the kids busy! When kids want to be rowdy, it can be hard to find a game that does not involve the TV tipping over! Here are some ideas for some helpful motor skill activities...

1. Try out kids yoga...there is a great yoga YouTube Channel called Cosmic Kids Yoga.

2. Ol' good game of tag! Even get the whole family involved!

3. Hide and seek! This can help the younger kids to count!

4. The floor is lava! Start at one side of the house and try to get to the other without touching the ground. Set up rugs and pillows to help reach the other side.

5. Relay race! Especially if you have a big backyard!

6. Nerf war! Older kids will love to play with their parents;)

7. Play with balloons, and do not let them touch the floor! This will keep kids entertained longer than you think...

8. If you can handle the noise, introduce them to band early on! Make a band with kitchen pots, pans, and spoons! March around the kitchen and pretend you are in a band!

9. Water balloon fight! Summer is coming up believe it or not!

10. Treasure hunt! Make a simple list of everyday items, and see what they can find. Hide in spots to help with little kids' reaching.

11. Hopscotch! A classic fun game!

12. Tissue dance! This game works on posture, body control, balance, and concentration. Everyone gets a tissue on their head and dances to music. Watch out -- if it hits the ground, you are out! 13. Tape Shape Game: Use easy-to-remove tape to put a variety of shapes, letters, and/or numbers on your floor. Have your child stand on one and give them instructions that will lead them to their next destination. For example, you can say "Bear crawl to the square", "Hop like a frog to T", "Run to the rectangle", etc. It keeps your child moving and helps them learn their shapes, letters, and numbers!

14. Penguin Waddle: Place a balloon between your kids' knees and have them waddle across the room without dropping it. Make it more challenging for older kids by incorporating obstacle courses.

15. Bouncy Ball Splat Painting: Put paints into paper plates and have kids dip balls in them. Then, throw them up on a white poster board you can set up by a tree or on a shed.

16. Stroller push and collect: Challenge your kids to go around the house picking up balls with their stroller.

17. Simon Says

18. Indoor Obstacle Course

19. Balance Beam: Use pool noodles as "balance beams".

20: Indoor Bowling: Use water bottles as bins and a ball.
