Max’s Virtual Art Fair Inspiration

Written by: Max Mitchell

This whole idea came about because for me, creating art, whether that be through photography, video or drawing, is not only great for mental health and alleviating stress, it’s great for expressing yourself and inspiring others. What other thing in this world connects so many people? Everyone is inspired by some work of art in their life and that’s important, especially now when the future is unclear. We wanted to create something that gives people a platform to present their creativity and we encourage you to submit something during this time of quarantine. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a hobby or if it’s your passion, just creating something will make you feel at peace. We are holding a competition where you have the ability to upload your artwork on to the website. All you have to do is fill out a short form. The categories are film, photography, performance art, makeup, painting, drawing, writing, assorted and PT community (people who are not currently enrolled in school: graduates, grandparents, parents etc). We want to see anything from painting on shoes or denim, bracelet looming, wood carving, pottery, a song you wrote, a drawing, a video dedicated to your school year- literally anything you can come up with. You are able to see the specific guidelines for each category on the website. Once all of the submissions are received; family members, neighbors, friends or someone who likes your work is able to vote on their favorite piece. For voting, each age division will be listed along with all of the entries in that age division. The age divisions are K- Grade 3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-8, Grades 9-12 and PT Community. Voters are able to vote for their favorite piece within that age division. All categories are mixed together in the age division. The person with the most amount of votes in each age division will win receive a $25 gift card. Submissions opened May 1st and close May 15th! Voting will take place May 22nd until May 29th. Winners will be picked June 1st. We also have a showcase page where you are able to put your work on exhibit just to show it off if you don’t feel like entering the competition. It is open to anyone in the community. The website is https://ptinteractartfair.weebly.com. I’m grateful for the Interact Club and Mrs. Price allowing me to do this and supported me and that I go to a school that is fortunate enough to have this opportunity and encourages this interaction within the community.

Some fantastic submissions so far:
